What do we expect from you during the NOLS WFA Course?

To ensure everyone gets the most out of this intensive training and to maintain a safe learning environment, we have a few clear guidelines:

🧠 Active Participation & Focus: We expect you to arrive on time each day, come prepared, and review the theory in the evenings. Questions or doubts? Speak up. To maintain focus, phones and laptops must remain switched off during training hours.
🤝 Respect & Safety: Treat fellow participants and instructors with respect, both in the classroom and during outdoor scenarios. Intimidation in any form will not be tolerated.
🚭 Clear Mind & Sobriety: Smoking, alcohol, and recreational drugs are strictly prohibited during course hours.
🐕 Pets: Regular pets are not allowed in the classroom or at scenario locations. If you bring a pet, you will be asked to leave the training until the animal is safely accommodated elsewhere.

If you have an official service dog, this is of course an exception. If you plan to bring a service dog, please contact us in advance before registering so we can discuss the arrangements together.

Your Equipment: What to bring to the WFA Course

As a large part of the training takes place outdoors in the Swedish wilderness, the right clothing and equipment are essential. We train in all weather conditions!

  • Clothing: Use a layering system (base layer, insulation, wind/waterproof). Avoid cotton.
  • Footwear: Sturdy, well-worn hiking boots suitable for mud and wet conditions.
  • Daypack: A small backpack (approx. 25–30 litres) for your daily essentials, water, and notebook.
  • Personal Items: Torch/headlamp, water bottle, and of course your enthusiasm.
